Ability to hover mouse over an event or task in the list or calendar, and press a key to perform an action on the hovered item.
Examples
- Hover on a task + S: Auto Schedule on the calendar
- Hover on a task + W: Set time estimate (opens the event pop up with the cursor on the edit time estimate)
- Hover on a task + Q: Set priority (opens the event pop up with the dropdown menu of priorities)
- Hover on an event/task + X: Delete
- And more actions like set Due date, set task list, etc.
Check Sunsama or Linear for reference on this functionality, it really makes things quick.

I frequently adjust my daily schedule in Morgen, so minimizing friction is key. Pop-ups slow me down for common actions like scheduling, adjusting, and deleting. I'd prefer fast actions using defaults (user defined).
My main use for Morgen is daily time-blocking. Speed is crucial when making many small changes.
Here are two key scenarios:
1. Scheduling Tasks (Hover + 'S')
Proposed way that doesn’t rely on pop-up windows.
- Action:Hover over a task + press 'S'.
- Scheduling Logic:
-
Today:
If the view includes “today" (day, week, multi-day), schedule in the first available slot
from the current time
.-
Future:
Schedule at the first available slot of the selected day (day view).-
Duration:
Use the task's duration, or a user-defined default (e.g., 30, 60 mins) if no task duration exists.- Workflow:Hover + 'S' to place, thenadjust if needed. Much faster to place all tasks on the calendar in the order I choose and then adjust.
- Constraints:Add a setting to schedule within working hours (e.g., 9AM-5PM or what user defines) to avoid scheduling at undesired times. I think this would be an additional feature.
- Error handling:If the duration of a task exceeds available time slots, offer the option to split the scheduled blocks into smaller chunks. Also additional feature.
2. Deleting Events/Tasks (Hover + 'X')
The process for deleting has many steps for modifying an ocurrence in a series. Here's what I would propose:
- Action:Hover over event/task + press 'X'.
- Recurring Events:Always default to "Only this instance" to avoid the pop-up window. I can still right-click for the full series options.
- Workflow Comparison:
-
Proposed (Hover + 'X'):
1. Hover (1 cursor movement)
2. Press 'X' (1 keypress)
Total: 1 cursor movement, 1 keypress
-
Current:
1. Right-click (1 cursor movement, 1 click)
2. Select "Delete" (1 cursor movement, 1 click)
3. Choose "Only this instance" (1 cursor movement, 1 click)
Total: 3 cursor movements, 3 clicks
That difference adds up a lot over many daily changes. Related request: https://morgen.canny.io/feature-requests/p/shortcut-for-moving-a-recurring-event-only-this-occurrence

I am curious.
Would you want an additional popup window to select when to schedule the task and for how long?
Is 1 click delete to long?
