I'd love that! It would solve something like that, wouldn't it? If something is still missing from the task, it's already scheduled for the next frame.

Would love if we could also have this instead put these tasks back into a list.

James: I am curious...
Scheduled tasks will still appear in the task list they were in. Are you thinking a list like the today/tomorrow lists but for past scheduled tasks?
J
James
Danny Hatcher I guess now that I've had a cup of coffee and thought about it. I just want to disable or rename overdue or make overdue a tag (which I think is upcoming)
The number one reason I and others abandon organizational apps is because when things get crazy your organizational app seems to compound it.
So if I am not accomplishing things and my overdue list just starts to snowball into crazyness my list organization is now abandoned & everything is now in overdue and now it's harder for me to sort through these tasks than I had just never scheduled them in the first place.
Danny Hatcher
James: Didn't notice that we couldn't hide the overdue list 😅
When mine gets busy, I address them first, often moving the due date somewhere more appropriate. 🤷♂

James
Danny Hatcher yeah in a perfect world that is what I would do too.
But if the week gets to hectic and I dont' have anywhere to plan them immediately they start to pile up and ignoring them because habitual.
Danny Hatcher
James: Ah ok.
Out of curiosity do you use lots of tasks? I have around 35 per day...
J
James
Danny Hatcher haha you would think.
No I have like 3-4 per day. But each one usually takes several hours.
It's mostly stupid psychological stuff. Objectively the overdue makes sense and I should just be able to re-plan them like a big boy. But the feeling of getting more in there each day if I haven't triaged the day before. Makes me feel this app that I use to stay organized is making me FEEL further behind.
But there is some like real point here if I had planned tasks to get done and I didn't for whatever reason. I deprioritized it for something else more important. If that is the case I don't want all these either subconsciously or otherwise de-prioritized tasks piling up in it's own list that is the "most important" list.
If I could rename & reorder that would work too. "Overdue" with the big exclamation mark as silly as it sounds stresses me out.

Show past scheduled but incomplete tasks in sidebar

I often find myself looking to see what tasks have been scheduled, but not completed. This is similar to https://morgen.canny.io/feature-requests/p/add-scheduled-tasks-to-due-today-in-sidebar, and maybe past items can be grouped into some sort of a "due today" concept.
At the end of the day it's about finding things I committed to doing but wasn't able to complete at the time. Just rescheduling them or dragging to a new day erases the history of what I originally planned and makes it difficult to do a personal review the things I didn't get to and why.

One way to implement this is to by default/or by option, schedule all incomplete tasks after 11:59pm each day as all-day events for the next day, and then check-off (or cross-out) the incomplete instance from the prior day. By putting them as all-day events for the next day, it will allow you to easily time block it on the calendar for the best time that suits the user and provides a clear way of notifying the user that this needs to be rescheduled rather than keeping it in the task bar. Another option is to auto-schedule it for a specific time the next day but not everyone will want this (myself included) for various reasons.
