Create recurring tasks in sidebar

Adding a little detail here:
For a task that is recurring, e.g., "every Friday," and it has no specific time that it recurs (so it's not an event, it's just a task), then the task should show up as an "all day task." Right now Morgen shows tasks that have a due date (but not a schedule time) quite nicely, at the top of the frame. But they can't recur. (Screenshot attached).

I think this is a duplicate of https://morgen.canny.io/feature-requests/p/repeating-tasks-in-due-date-lists-today-tomorrow-due-soon.
I added some comments/use cases on the above, as well.
+1 to recurring tasks. Absolutely critical. Also needed on mobile.
This is one of those features I can't live without, which means I'm using Apple Reminders instead of Morgen when it comes to tasks.
Every to-do/task manager out there has the idea of (unscheduled) recurring tasks. Things that happen every [x] period, but don't actually show up on the calendar or scheduled for a particular time of day.
Key use case:
- Process payroll last workday of every month
This is an example of a critical task that absolutely must happen any time during the last day of the month. No matter what happens on the calendar, it's got to occur. Ideally, (much like Reminders, Todoist, etc.) I'd be able to check it off, and it disappears from my task list until a few days before the next due date. Then it shows up as "due soon" and progresses until "due today."

This would also be incredibly helpful. I was actually surprised to find that it wasn't already supported.
I have a bunch of regular (monthly / weekly etc) tasks that I need to re-appear in my task list at specific intervals.

Recurring tasks in sidebar
Adam K.
Hi!
I have a few(too many) tasks for my company that I have to do each month, that I don't really want to schedule, as they're not to be done that day specifically - More like they're just supposed to be done by then.
I would love to be able to setup a recurring task with a due date, so that it just pops up in the upcoming list a week or so before it has to be done.

This is exactly what I am looking for right now. I like to have a daily and weekly task list that I'd like to recur on those basis.
The current set up either means you list all of the daily/weekly tasks on a recurring basis, which completely overruns the calendar, or have a recurring task with subtasks but these subtasks do not recur with it meaning you have to repopulate them if you tick them off.

Samuel J. Pearce: I have lots of recurring tasks in a 'habits' task list so they don't clog my sidebar.
When I complete them during the day, they are then hidden as I don't show completed tasks.
Just how I do it 😁

Danny Hatcher Do you have these to recur at specific times? I would be fine with that.
My issue is more related to tasks without a specific time, but ideally done that day/daily, which I tried using all-day tasks but it quickly becomes difficult to look at and sort through if you have >5. I currently just set up a 'daily' task with the actual tasks in the notes as I can't find an easy solution. It would seem an all-day recurring task with recurring sub-tasks in the side bar to be the easiest option if it was possible. Considering checking out Sunsama for this reason.

Samuel J. Pearce: Yes mine all have times. Doesn't mean they get done then like emails - scheduled for 9am but could happen at any time (I just don't tick it if I haven't done it) as shown in the image below.
Your solutions sounds good although I would be curious what tasks are 'all day tasks' that don't suit a time, if you don't mind sharing.
There is a timebox request that sounds similar to your note solution: https://morgen.canny.io/feature-requests/p/timebox-grouping-scheduled-tasks
Samuel J. Pearce
Danny Hatcher Thanks for your reply - I see your point about using sheduled tasks as I could just list them all early in the day and then tick them off when I actually do them.
The timebox grouping is an interesting concept, I suppose it's two sides of the same problem about resolving how to manage a group of tasks, either related by time or overarching task.
It's not necessarily that my tasks are all day problems, rather, any time of day problems. I have a bunch of long-standing ongoing tasks that I am trying to address little by little daily or weekly, like so:
- Weekly: Plan week, Plan meals, emails, paper basket.
- Daily: Emails, Paper pile, digital cleanup (trying to sort my backlog of photos and unsorted files), Reader (prompt to actually read my collected articles)
They may all happen, or none might happen, but it's a cue to remind me to do them. I don't know if it's a unique use-case or not. Essentially it is due to the fact that I do shift work, so I am trying to plan recurring home tasks around it because I cannot guarantee a time.
Also, I have several courses that I am currently working through, which will take months to years, that I may do weekly but will not do on specific days due to the shift work. So a recurring task in the sidebar means that I could drag it into my week when I'm planning ahead on the weekend.
An alternative (maybe the best?) solution might be 'ongoing tasks' that do not disappear from the sidebar when you schedule them, so you could drag it several times and schedule several occasions as they are never 'complete'.

Samuel J. Pearce: The 'ongoing tasks' that you refer to are all tasks in Morgen. Tasks can be scheduled at multiple times.
Tasks remain in the sidebar until completed there if there a multiple slots scheduled.
Image example below: My Level 2 course is done over 6 months. The theory work I schedule when I plan my week so there are multiple slots spread across months. It stays there until I tick it off. The 1 hour duration is the default slot time when I schedule it.

Danny Hatcher Ah I see I did not have 'show scheduled tasks' enabled. At that point I suppose it my first point comes down to a matter of preference and whether you take a task-forward approach (with recurring tasks in the sidebar like OP and what I described in my initial comment) or a calendar-forward approach as you described with recurring habit tasks in your calendar.
I would say it feels natural to me to have recurring tasks in the sidebar for tasks (and their sub-tasks) not bound to a particular time, but I will try out your method and force myself to move them to a suitable time when I plan my day ahead etc.

Samuel J. Pearce As with all this 'organization' it is finding a workflow that suits you.
Morgen offers so many features it gives plenty of flexibility. Happy to help where I can 😁
Of course, this feature request will still be reviewed.
